Academic Advising for Spring 2017

Starting this week, the Graduate Programs office will begin calling all MBA and certificate program students to schedule Spring 2017 advising appointments.

We will call the number listed in Banner Self Serve. Please make sure this number is correct and is the best way to reach you. You can easily update the number in Banner Self Serve if it is incorrect.

MSA students should contact their MSA advisor to schedule a time in early October to discuss Spring 2017 classes.

When to Register:

  • Online registration for Spring 2017 classes opens October 28, 2016 at 1:00pm for ECU graduate students who are in good academic standing.
  • Students on probation or who were admitted by exception and have not satisfied the terms of their admission can register once final Fall 2016 semester grades are posted and reviewed by the Graduate Programs office. This is typically 2-3 business days after the date that final grades are due.

Is an Advising Appointment Required?

ECU Graduate students do NOT require a PIN to register for classes; therefore, an advising appointment is not mandatory. However, we strongly encourage each student to seek advice and guidance as needed.

  • Your advisors are here to help answer any questions you might have about completing your program – email your question to your advisor or schedule an appointment.
  • The Graduate Programs office staff are very knowledgeable and can immediately help with most general questions – call the office (252.328.6970) or email gradbus@ecu.edu.
  • DegreeWorks, located in Banner Self Serve, is a great tool to help you plan your schedule and see how many classes you have remaining in your program.

When we call…

Feel free to ask us any questions you might have at the time. If you’d like to schedule an advising appointment, we’ll find a time that works for your and your advisor. Remember, appointments can be in-person or on the phone, whichever is better for you.

If you can’t talk, just call us back when you can. Make sure to have your Banner ID and ECU email address handy so we can assist you more quickly.

If you don’t get a call from us by October 1, that means the number listed in Banner is incorrect. Feel free to call the office to set up an advising appointment at any time.

Key points:

  • Advising appointments are only arranged by phone (252.382.6970). Email appointment requests will not be considered.
  • Advising appointments can take place in person or on the phone, whichever is more convenient for you.
  • Your advising appointment should not take longer than 30 minutes.
  • Your advising appointment should take place no later than Thursday, October 27, so that you are able to register as soon as Spring 2017 registration opens.
