Spring Graduation in 3 Easy Steps!

STEP 1: Apply to Graduate

Students who will be graduating this Spring and have yet to apply to graduate should apply by the February 1 deadline. This page has more information on the different steps to commencement.

In order to have your degree conferred, you MUST apply to graduate in Banner Self Serve (through PiratePort)! If you are getting an MBA + a certificate, you must submit two applications – one for the degree, one for the certificate.

How to Apply to Graduate:

Login to PiratePort
Click on Banner Self Service
From the Student tab, click Student Records
Under Academic Record, click Apply to Graduate
Do this again if you are graduating with a degree and a certificate

STEP 2: RSVP for Ceremonies

The application is different than the RSVP for attendance at the ceremony. In order to participate in the College of Business or the ECU ceremony, you must RSVP by the deadlines listed below.

College of Business

Departmental Ceremonies will be held Fri & Sat, May 4th & 5th
** New for Spring 2018 **
Individual departmental ceremonies will be held instead of one COB Graduate Recognition Ceremony. Invitations will not be mailed. Tickets will be required and students must RSVP online by March 12th in order to participate in the departmental ceremony. RSVP here.

Fri, May 4th
9am – MBA, Brody School of Medicine Auditorium

Sat, May 5th
4pm – BSBA Accounting & MSA, Hendrix Theatre, Mendenhall Student Center

University Ceremony

The university-wide commencement ceremony will be held at 7pm, Friday, May 4th in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. Tickets are NOT required for the University Ceremony, however you must RSVP. Check out the Registrar’s page for more information and for some important FAQs. RSVP here.

STEP 3: Order Cap, Gown, and Hood

You must also order and wear a cap, gown, and hood from Dowdy Student Stores. There is no cost for the cap and gown, but the hood costs about $30. There is the option to have these items shipped to you for a small fee. When completing the form, you will be asked for your tassel color – tassel color for the College of Business is DRAB.
