Undergraduate Registration FAQs
This FAQ covers several common issues that College of Business undergraduate students come across preparing for and during registration.

Will you be declaring?
Are you completing the BSBA declaration requirements this semester? Do you have at least a 2.5 GPA?
Review the BSBA declaration requirements at https://business.ecu.edu/concentration/
If you answered yes to both questions, then you can request permission to register for restricted concentration courses contingent on declaring.
Submit an academic advising support request in Learner360
- Subject: Request to register for concentration courses
- Topic: Registration Issues/Schedule Review
- Description: List concentration courses you are requesting
Submit your requests one week prior to the “Early registration” date on the academic calendar to have a decision by registration.
You can view overrides that have been entered on your behalf under “Prepare for Registration” in Registration & Planning in PiratePort.
Note: Approval of your request does not register you for the courses. You will still need to register/waitlist them once you’re able to register.
Online Classes
Online classes may be restricted to students in online degree/certificate programs.
How to know if a class is restricted:
Click the class title and then restrictions. If you see “Must be enrolled in one of the following Campuses: DE/Internet (650)” then that section is restricted.
A department/school/college may choose to restrict all, some, or none of the online sections of a course to online students.
A DE campus restriction may be removed prior to the first week of class, but some online classes will remain restricted for all of registration. On-campus students are encouraged to enroll in available face-to-face classes rather than waiting for an online option.
DE Campus Restriction Removal Dates for College of Business Courses
- Fall 2026: August 10, 2026
- Spring 2027: November 30, 2026
- Fall 2027: August 9, 2027
- Spring 2028: November 29, 2027
Notes:
- Any restricted 3000- and 4000-level ACCT courses will remain restricted to online students.
- Course enrollment is monitored, and restrictions may be lifted earlier without prior notice if needed. On-campus students are strongly discouraged from waiting for an online section when a face-to-face section is available.
BUSI 4200 or MGMT 4842? Must be graduating!
BUSI 4200 and MGMT 4842 may be restricted to students who are graduating. If you will be graduating and needing to take either or both courses, please have your graduation application submitted one week prior to the “Early registration” date on the academic calendar to ensure you can register for them.
MATH 1065
Does your Degree Works still show “still needed” next to MATH 1065? If so, it is critical you fulfill that requirement as soon as possible to remain on or get back on track with your degree progression. Students can register for MATH 1065 by meeting any one of the following criteria:
- ACT Math ≥ 23
- SAT Math ≥ 570
- Departmental math placement exam 1 ≥ 17
Students not meeting one of the placement criteria will be required to pass MATH 0001 (for out-of-state students) or MATH 0045 (for in-state students) with a C- before taking MATH 1065 at ECU.
Trying to take ENGL 2201?
- Must have at least sophomore class standing (30 credits completed) at time of registration.
- Must register for an appropriate section:
- Writing about the Disciplines: Writing about Business
- Writing about the Disciplines: Writing about the Multidisciplines
- Search by keyword when browsing classes to avoid ENGL 2201 sections set up for other groups of majors.
