7 Things to Know about Course Waitlists
Banner waitlists are available to students attempting to register for sections that are full to capacity. Note that students are not added to sections that are full to capacity. Faculty members do not have the authority to add students to their classes either. The waitlist function is the appropriate mechanism for classes that are full to capacity. The number of students already on the waitlist for each section will be shown in the ‘WL Act’ column.
- Each semester, there are some classes that get full very quickly, so students who want to register for a class that is full must sign up on a waitlist.
- In Banner Self Serve, you will see the class is full and asked if you would like to join the waitlist. Contact your advisor if you are not able to join the waitlist.
- From now until the 5th day of classes of the fall semester, the waitlists will be functioning.
- You will be notified via ECU student email when your name comes up on the waitlist. You will receive only one notification email.
- From the time the email notification is sent, you have 24 hours to accept your spot on the waitlist.
- To accept your spot on the waitlist, follow the directions in the email.
- If you miss your 24 hour window, the only thing you can do is rejoin the waitlist at the bottom of the queue.
If you’re on a waitlist for a class, remember that waitlists operate all day, everyday – nights, weekends, and holidays! Make sure to check your ECU student email at least 2 times a day so you don’t miss your notification!
