GAOpp: Marketing and Promotion for Dept of Public Health, Brody School of Medicine (20 hours)

The Department of Public Health (DPH) is currently seeking an ECU MPH student to assist with marketing and promotion efforts.

Objective:

To increase awareness of ECU public health course offerings and Master of Public Health (MPH) and Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degrees and certificate programs by increasing the Department of Public Health’s visibility through targeted marketing and promotion.

Internship Overview:

The student in this GA position will be primarily involved with advertising, creating marketing outreach material and working with the Department’s web master and social media coordinator to improve visibility of public health programs to potential students. The GA position will provide the student with the opportunity to be creative, develop and use marketing skills to reach broad based target audiences.

 Responsibilities:

  • Assist with ad placements, developing promotional material including brochures and advertising flyers
  • Assist with campaigning at local job fairs and regional and state conferences
  • Assist with maintaining Constant Contact newsletter
  • Assist with marketing program on ECU website and social media pages
  • Report to Departmental Business Office Manager and MPH/DrPH Graduate Program Directors

 Qualifications:

  • Student enrolled full-time and in good standing in the ECU MPH program
  • Familiarity with current activities at ECU, as well as have an understanding of the vision and mission of the medical school and the Department of Public Health

 Time Commitment/Compensation:

The GA position will begin as soon as possible and will run through the end of the Spring 2020 semester.  The position requires a 20-hours/week commitment with some flexibility on the specific work times within each workweek.  Compensation will be provided at a rate commiserate with the ECU Graduate School guidelines.

 Skills:

  • Preferred experience with working with MS Office (i.e., Word) and publishing software (e.g., MS publisher) for developing flyers and other marketing material
  • Experience with social media (Facebook, Twitter)
  • Creative and efficient demeanor
  • Must have excellent organization and communication skills
