Sign up for SAS 9.4 Fundamentals of Programming Beta Certification Exam Hosted by the COB on October 12th for FREE!

As you are probably aware, many job postings directed at business graduates include SAS programming as a preferred qualification.   The College of Business, in conjunction with SAS, is offering an e-learning opportunity for faculty, students, and staff to prepare for and take the SAS 9.4 Fundamentals of Programming beta certification exam scheduled for October 12th for FREE!  Two sessions are scheduled:  morning (10am-noon) and afternoon (2pm-4pm) in Bate 2012. Because this is the beta exam, participants who sit for this exam and pass it, will receive free certification (SAS exams fees normally range from $180 to $250).  After signing up to participate, you will be given an activation code to access e-learning material covered on this exam for free (e-learning fees for this course are normally $780).

We are the sole beta testing site in the world for this new credential (thanks to our COB alumni at SAS).  What an amazing opportunity for our faculty, staff, students, and recent graduates!  This exam is different than the SAS Base Programming exam.  Specifically, this beta exam is a standalone exam designed to assess whether you know the content of SAS Programming 1 and 2 e-learning courses (multiple choice/short answer format).  The SAS Base Programming exam, on the other hand, assumes you have had more extensive SAS programming experience and incorporates a coding component within the exam.  This SAS Fundamentals of Programming exam is perfect for students since most have had limited experience coding with SAS.  Space is limited!  Sign up asap.

Who is eligible to participate?  Current faculty and staff as well as current students or recent graduates (within the last 6 months) are eligible to participate in this beta certification exam event.

How do you sign up?  Each exam time is limited to 45 participants, so interested faculty, staff, students, and recent graduates should sign up soon by emailing Dr. Brenda Killingsworth (killingsworthb@ecu.edu) using their ECU affiliated email address, identifying their status (faculty, staff, student, or alumni), their major/degree/dept (MIS, ACCT, FINA, MBA, Business Analytics Certificate, etc.), and identifying a morning or afternoon exam time preference.  Confirmation and additional information, including an e-learning activation code, will be sent out to those who sign up to take the beta certification exam.

What is covered on the exam?  This beta certification exam is intended to certify that participants have acquired the fundamental skills of SAS programming.  The certification exam will be comprised of multiple choice and short answer questions.  In preparation, participants will need to commit to completing the SAS Programming 1: Essentials e-learning course (14 hours) and SAS Programming 2 e-learning course (14 hours) prior to sitting for the certification.

Who could benefit from this certification?  Many business majors could benefit from this certification with higher initial salaries and greater upward mobility.  Do a quick scan of indeed.com for your intended career and SAS in the search criteria and you will see just how many jobs include SAS as a preferred qualification.  Other helpful information:
