STEM-Corps is Recruiting!

STEM-Corps East is a national service AmeriCorps program that is focused on supporting in-school and afterschool tutoring, as well as, enrichment activities, to increase student interest and achievement in math and science classes.  We are recruiting 108 individuals to serve as AmeriCorps members to help serve over 1,000 students in our local communities!

Our mission is to help students/youth link classroom STEM learning and real-world problem solving, master STEM concepts and skills necessary to succeed, and gain knowledge about STEM career pathways. We help students in eastern North Carolina to successfully excel in the classroom, graduate from high school, seek higher education and be career ready to pursue pathways leading to employment in STEM- related careers.  You can help make this impact by serving as an AmeriCorps member.

What are the requirements? 

  • Must be 17 years or older
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. national or lawful permanent resident alien in the United States
  • Must successfully complete and pass an FBI fingerprint and criminal history review that meets AmeriCorps standards
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalency or agree to obtain a high school diploma or its equivalent before using the award.
  • Must commit to and complete serving 300, 450 or 900 hours in order to receive the education award
  • Have served in AmeriCorps no more than three times. (The lifetime maximum is four terms of service as an AmeriCorps member.)
