Two things about Canvas...

1:Courses in Canvas don’t need to appear until 9am on the first day of classes (Tuesday, January 19).

Just because you don’t see your class(es) in Canvas prior to the first day of the semester does not mean you aren’t registered for the class. Some professors activate their classes in Canvas a week or so before classes while others will wait until the first day of the semester.

Canvas is a web-based learning management system, or LMS. It is used by professors and students to access and manage online course learning materials and communicate about skill development and learning achievement. This is where your courses are actually delivered. You register for courses, pay your bills, etc. in PiratePort.

2: You might have noticed a new financial module in Canvas. This is not a mandatory course; it is provided at the request of the Chancellor to serve as a resource for students who would like additional information about financing their education.

As a reminder, Pirates Aboard is our online orientation module. It should be completed prior to the first day of classes. Failure to complete the entire module will result in a registration hold being placed on your account. Please email gradbus@ecu.edu with any questions regarding Pirates Aboard orientation.
