It’s official – ECU College of Business academic advisors is getting texting! That’s right, in just a few weeks, you’ll be able to text with your advisor. Of course you can still email or call us as well. When we’re up and running, we’ll send out another notice in the Compass to let you know the advisors’ numbers, so watch this space!

 

Top 5 Things to Know About ECU COB Texting

  1. You’re in! You don’t need to do anything to receive text messages – you’re automatically enrolled. (Just please make sure your cell phone number is accurate in Banner Self Serve – instructions below). You have the ability to text ‘STOP’ or ‘OPT OUT’ at any time to opt out of text messages.

To do so, follow these simple steps.

  1. Login to Pirate Port
  2. Choose the My Information
  3. Click on Update Addresses and Phones.

 

  1. We don’t like spam, either. We will only text you with timely reminders and updates about critical components of your academic experience.

 

You can expect texts about:

  • Registration reminders
  • Advising check-ins
  • Appointment reminders

 

  1. We respect your time. That’s why text messages will only be sent during regular business hours, between 9:00am and 5:00pm Monday-Friday.

 

  1. We’ll respond ASAP. You can text us whenever you’d like, but remember, we are people/parents/professionals, too, so texts received outside normal business hours may not get a response until the next business day.

 

  1. Email is still king. The official channel of communication is still email, so please don’t neglect your ECU student email address. And the weekly newsletter, the Pirates Compass, remains our main method of disseminating updates, opportunities, and reminders to all currently enrolled students.
