Important Deadlines & Reminders

*THREE* Academic Calendars – please remind your faculty & students that the add/drop & withdrawal dates for the traditional 15-week term are different than for the 2 eight-week block terms.  All 3 versions are here: https://facultysenate.ecu.edu/fall-2021-academic-calendars/

  • Last day to add/drop for 15-week is Friday, Aug 27th.  After that “drops” are withdrawals and are on the transcript and may not be eligible for a refund.
  • Last day to add/drop for Block 1 is August 25th.
  • Last day to add/drop for Block 2 is October 13th

Depending upon financial aid, changes to either block or the 15-week could result in financial aid changes. Please make sure students always check with their financial aid counselor prior to initiating a drop or withdrawal.  The ONLY way to withdraw is for the student to email regis@ecu.edu and request the withdrawal. Faculty, advisors and the program cannot initiate a withdrawal.

Immunizations – please remind students taking 1 credit of campus based courses (or more) to submit their immunization records or their schedules will be cancelled.  Refer them to the Student Health Center or immunizations@ecu.edu if they have questions.

New students who recently graduated – we are still seeing “Awaiting Final Document” holds on student records because they graduated in May or June, etc., and still have not sent the Graduate School a transcript showing their undergraduate degree was conferred.  This will delay both financial aid in Fall 2021 and their ability to register for Spring 2022.  Please remind new students to have a transcript sent to gradschool@ecu.edu or Graduate School, Ragsdale 131, Greenville, NC 27858.  They can see this hold on their Degree Works audit in the bottom of the demographics header.

The Thesis/Dissertation deadline is December 1, 2021 for a Fall 2021 graduation.

ECU Email address:  Please remind students they should use ONLY their ECU email account when communicating with anyone on campus. Many of us are restricted from sending helpful information specific to a student unless they are emailing from their own ECU account. Please do not copy a student’s personal email on an email to the Graduate School if they are a currently enrolled student. Please use their ECU email account when including them on messages regarding their educational record.

Have a great start to Fall 2021!
