New Fall Class – MGMT 6901
We’re excited to announce a new graduate course from the Miller School of Entrepreneurship and the Arthur Graduate School. It is offered as a special topics course (MGMT 6901) in the fall of 2023. The focus of the course will be to investigate the potential issues of corporate approaches to rural development.
Rural Entrepreneurship and Development
Traditional economic development strategies have failed to address the specific needs of rural communities and small towns. The ecosystems, social networks, and information flows are unique in these regions. Important aspects of economic development in rural communities and small towns include small business resiliency and entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship remains an integral component of economic and community development. This course will bring together content, theory, and experiences to form a holistic view of community development to improve resiliency and local sustainability through the lens of small business development. There will be a combination of reviewing and discussing academic articles, networking with local business and economic development specialists, and applied work in communities where students have an interest.
