Position Profile: Graduate Student – Data and Analytics Graduate Assistant

$16-18/hour up to 20 hours per week

Position Type: Graduate Research Assistantship

Overview:
The Office of Innovation and Engagement at East Carolina University is looking for a graduate student to serve as a Data and Analytics Graduate Assistant. This position is ideal for graduate students interested in applying their analytical skills to real-world projects and contributing to the university’s mission of fostering innovation and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn key objectives associated with advancing the research, engagement, and innovation enterprise of the university.
  • Assist with data analysis initiatives, including data collection, processing, and interpretation for various projects.
  • Help develop and implement analytical frameworks to evaluate program effectiveness and impact.
  • Create detailed reports and presentations to communicate insights to stakeholders.
  • Mentor undergraduate students in data analysis techniques and project methodologies.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to identify data-driven solutions for university challenges.
  • Meet with faculty to understand research, engagement, and innovation priorities.

Qualifications:

  • Current graduate student at East Carolina University, preferably pursuing a degree in Data Science, Analytics, Business, or a STEM related field.
  • Proficient in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, R, Python, SQL, or Tableau).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex data concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working in collaborative work environments.
  • Interest in using data and artificial intelligence to inform decision making.
