Alumni Profile - Anastasia Mabry (MBA 2024)

Ana Mabry’s journey is one of evolution, from a passion for languages to a pursuit of leadership in the business world. Having recently completed her MBA at the Arthur Graduate School of Business in July 2024, along with a Leadership in Organizations certificate in May 2024, Ana has successfully transitioned from her academic roots in languages to a promising career in management.

Ana’s academic journey began with a strong focus on languages and translation, where she earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree specializing in Japanese and English. Originally drawn to diplomacy because of her fascination with global affairs, Ana soon realized that a broader, more flexible education would open more diverse career opportunities.  “Coming from Russia, I knew that having a degree from an American university would provide a significant advantage in the competitive business world,” Ana reflects.

Her decision to attend East Carolina University (ECU) was not only based on its reputation for high-quality education but also a personal connection. “My husband is an alumnus of ECU, and I find it amusing that we’ll share our experiences as fellow graduates, not just as husband and wife,” she adds.

Throughout her studies, Ana’s most important takeaways have been resilience, independence, and the power of effective communication and collaboration. She emphasizes how these skills, learned through both her academic and personal experiences, are crucial for success in any field. “Life is a rollercoaster, but with the right skills, you can navigate through any storm,” she says.

Currently, Ana is halfway through a Management Training program at Enterprise Mobility, where she’s diving deep into leadership strategies, team dynamics, and decision-making. The fast-paced program is challenging her to broaden her understanding of leadership, preparing her for a future in the corporate world, where she aims to rise through the ranks to top management positions.

Ana’s advice to future graduate students? Set a significant goal for yourself and work towards it step by step. Knowing your ultimate goal and why you need this degree will keep you focused and motivated.
