Job Description:
Information Technology & Computing Services, Academic Technologies unit, is seeking a Web Developer for the University Web and Application Consulting team who will offer technical expertise in the daily support of campus-wide web applications such as CommonSpot and WordPress. Development of web sites in ColdFusion and PHP utilizing HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery MS SQL and MySQL is required. Consultation with clients and other IT staff to resolve problems and ensure customer satisfaction is required. As new technologies emerge and needs for projects change, the selected candidate will need to be flexible and learn new tools and methods.
Knowledge of development methods for web environments, including proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, XML, ColdFusion, and PHP is essential. Proficiency should also include the ability to work with databases in MS SQL or MySQL for form data collection. An understanding of web accessibility is essential. Knowledge of Windows server for setting directory permissions would be beneficial. Candidate should possess excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage current and concurrent tasks. It is critical that the candidate possess effective oral and written communication skills as well as exceptional interpersonal skills.
The selected candidate is expected to provide consulting and training on all aspects of the aforementioned products to faculty, staff, and students, which will include teaching workshops, one-on-one consulting, project management, and documentation in both written and web format as necessary. Understanding of the user experience, as it relates to web and mobile, is essential. Understanding of multimedia, social media, mobile and responsive design, and emerging technology, as well as the application of these tools in education is desired.
