*Life Cycle Logistics (LCL) Logistics Management Specialist (0346 job series) *

Life Cycle Logisticians ensure the integration of all support elements to maximize supportability, reliability, availability, maintainability and mission effectiveness of systems throughout its life cycle. They achieve this by influencing system design and providing effective, timely product support capability to secure system material readiness and operations. The career field encompasses both acquisition and sustainment activities directed at planning, development, implementation and management of effective and affordable systems. Life Cycle Logisticians can fill typical line and staff position titles that include, but are not limited to ILS Manager, Logistics Element Manager, Logistics Management Specialist, Logistics Engineer, Deputy or Assistant PM for Logistics, Director of Logistics, Weapon Systems Manager, Supply Specialist, Supply Chain Manager, Equipment Specialist, Maintenance Manager, and Transportation Management Specialist. Typical position locations include, but are not limited to Acquisition organizations within the service components (i.e., Systems Commands, Material Commands, Inventory Control Points, DRPMs, PEOs), as well as organizations/ field activities directly supporting such organizations. Positions are involved in the identification of activities involved in providing logistics support, the integration of actions required of each activity into a comprehensive logistics plan, the monitoring of progress in meeting the planned requirements, the adjustments of logistics plans and schedules for all related actions, and coordination of efforts to effect the plan. This includes determining requirements for funds, manpower, facilities, equipment, transportation, communications, training, supplies and support services; as well as, the design and development, procurement, production, storage, maintenance, utilization and disposal of supplies and equipment. They may also be involved in acquisition of required support services such as transportation; communications; acquisition and training of personnel; and international programs support.

 

Basic Requirements:

Supply Chain Management, Business or any other four year degree desired OR GPA 2.95 or higher OR Military Veteran or real world experience toward the Logistics field.

 

BECOMING A NAVAL ACQUISITION DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (NADP) EMPLOYEE

The NADP is comprised of entry level positions.  The NADP is a three year paid program.  Entry level employees will be developed into highly skilled professionals to meet projected Department of the Navy (DON) Acquisition Workforce requirements. The NADP provides highly qualified and talented entry level employees an opportunity for rapid advancement, regular promotions, systematic development, career broadening assignments and graduate education through a structured, systematic career development process using a career field Master Development Plan (MDP).  Based on satisfactory performance and graduation during the three year NADP program, employees can be offered permanent positions in the Federal government.

A few Frequently Asked Questions:

-These are federal civilian positions with the Department of Defense and within the Department of the Navy, you do not have to join the military.

-They are federal civilian positions with all pay and benefits of a federal position for the three year development program.

-At the end of the three year program, NACP employees can be converted to permanent federal employees depending or their performance and the needs of the Department of Defense.

-NADCP employees do travel, but they do not deploy to war zones.

-NADCP employees geographical place of work will be at Fleet Readiness Center East MCAS Cherry Point, NC. (~1.5 hours from Greenville NC)

to renounce your foreign citizenship and must return your passport upon

acceptance of an official NADP job offer)

-Be registered with the Selective Service (males born after 12/31/59)

-Be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance

-Sign a mobility agreement
