GAOpp: East Carolina Mass Shooting Project (MSP)

East Carolina Mass Shooting Project (MSP) Graduate Assistantships Spring/Summer 2020

MSP BACKGROUND

Previous mass shooting data had discrepancies in the research design that resulted in drastically different portrayals of mass shootings. These limitations inhibited researchers from thoroughly examining potential factors that caused mass shootings, and limited researchers’ ability to create evidence-based programs and policies to decrease the incidence of mass shootings in the United States. The current project will attempt to addresses the conceptual and methodological limitations by developing a comprehensive longitudinal mass shootings database.
