Policy Change for Spring Tuition
Dr. Paul Gemperline, Dean of the Graduate School, has asked us to share the following information regarding a policy change by the Board of Governors that will impact how tuition is billed in the upcoming spring term. The Board of Governors of The University of North Carolina System approved the following policy at its July 23, 2020 meeting.
“Tuition and fees charged for the 2020-21 academic year shall not be refunded by any institution regardless of possible changes in instructional format that may occur for any part of the 2020-21 academic year.” This means that all students who are currently registered in the Fall 2020 semester will be billed using the same billing method in the Spring 2021 semester, regardless of the instructional method. For example, if a student was billed at the on-campus tuition and fee rate this fall, then they will continue to be billed at the on-campus tuition and fee rate in the spring semester regardless of the instructional method. In some cases, this may result in the student being billed at a higher rate than they might expect. Please visit the “Billing Guidance” document on the ECU Cashiers website for more information about this change. The full listing of tuition and fees can be found on the ECU tuition and fees website. Tuition and fee bills for the spring 2021 semester will be sent to students on November 23rd and the first scheduled drop date for nonpayment of tuition and fees is December 16th. Please visit the Spring 2021 Important Dates for the full list of upcoming deadlines. Students should contact the Cashier’s Office with questions regarding billing, payments, refunds, or any other tuition related matters.
