Out-of-State Tuition Remissions due April 15
A very limited number of out-of-state tuition waivers are available on a competitive basis. The out-of-state tuition waiver covers the difference in tuition between in-state and out-of-state rates. Remissions also come with a 20-hour graduate assistantship, which offers additional compensation of approximately $4,500 per Fall and Spring semester. Refer to the Graduate School’s webpage for more information.
Preferential consideration will be given to students who have been accepted by COB published admissions deadlines.
The deadline to apply for consideration of a COB out-of-state tuition remission is April 15. The application is competitive and a completed application is required in order for a student to be considered for an out-of-state tuition remission. Applications are reviewed by a committee in late Spring of each year. Applicants will be notified by June 1.
Eligibility
Students must meet the following criteria to qualify for in-state tuition remissions:
- Students must be degree seeking and on-campus,
- Students must have a full-time (20 hr/wk) appointment as a graduate teaching assistant (GTA), a graduate research assistant (GRA), a graduate intern assistant (GIA) or a graduate fellow (fellowship). The appointment must be in effect for a period of not less than two academic semesters for the student to be eligible for and to retain a tuition remission. Apply to be a COB GA here.
- Students should be in good academic standing as defined in the Graduate School Catalog
IMPORTANT NOTE: Students who have been determined at any point in the semester to no longer meet the eligibility requirements to receive a tuition remission will have the full amount of their tuition remission rescinded, and as such, they are then personally responsible for paying the full costs of their tuition for that semester.
