Student Spotlight on Von Davis
A bit about Von:
Von is originally from south Jersey/Philadelphia area and made his way to Greenville 4 years ago. He and his girlfriend made the move because she was offered a job here at ECU…Go Pirates! Before starting his MBA program this summer, he worked as a chemist in the precious metals industry. Having worked for a wide range of managers with different leadership styles, Von picked up on some of the more effective techniques and was inspired to gain more skills in management. When he gradautes, Von is looking forward to transitioning to a project manager in the sports and rec industry in Colorado.
Why he chose ECU’s MBA:
Von was really attracted to ECU’s MBA program because of its flexibility and value. He can also build his connections with the ECU and Greenville communities.
Hobbies & Interests:
Von really enjoys to travel and see new places. One of his favorite things about North Carolina is that it offers the best of both worlds…the mountains and the beaches! He visits the Outer Banks whenever he can.
Proudest Accomplishment:
Von is really proud of the fact that he was able to work several jobs during his undergraduate years and still maintain a solid GPA. He learned effective time management skills and how to be fiscally responsible. Von credits this early exposure to some of life’s greatest challenges with his ability to successfully transition to being a full-time MBA student.
Advice to fellow COB Grad Students:
Learning doesn’t stop once you close the textbook. We all learn from each other, and getting out and meeting people is a pivotal part of refining the skills you learn in the classroom. Many of the principles and practices you are exposed to as an MBA student carry over into your personal and professional life.
