Admitted by Exception? Check these reminders
Admit by Exception | The Basics
– You have 9 hours (3 classes) to earn a 3.0 GPA, which is a B average. For every C earned, you need an A to balance out the GPA.
– W’s (Withdrawals) DO NOT count as part of the 9 hours. Only completed hours count.
– You do not have to take all 3 classes in the same semester.
Admit by Exception | Removing Holds
– Once grades post for the current semester, the COB Grad Programs office reviews grades the following Monday.
– The Grad School is notified if your admit by exception status should be ended or continued, or if you should be terminated from the program.
– The Grad School updates the holds 24-48 hours after COB Grad Programs.
- If your GPA is 3.0 or higher, the hold is removed from your account. You will be able to register with during the regular registration period for subsequent semesters.
- If your GPA is below 3.0 but it is still mathematically possible to earn a 3.0 in the remaining credit hours in your admit by exception status, the hold will be temporarily lifted to allow you to register for classes. The hold is added back after the drop/add period is over for the current semester.
- If your GPA is below 3.0 and it is NOT mathematically possible for your to earn a 3.0 in the remaining credit hours of your admit by exception status, you will be terminated from the program.
