Online Admission Application

The Graduate Admissions team provides centralized application processing, recruitment, and new student onboarding services for all graduate programs except medicine and dentistry. While the Graduate School provides a framework of admission policy and practice, admission decisions are made at the program level. Please make sure that you add the gradschool@ecu.edu email account to your email address book to ensure you are receiving important communication from them. Upon submission of your online application, a Graduate Application Specialist will be assigned to your application file. You will receive communication from your specialist regarding application requirements on occasion via email, text or phone. You may check the status of your application by logging into your ECU application dashboard and reviewing your requirement checklist.

Obtaining Your RCN Number

Graduate students applying for admission and claiming in-state residency for tuition purposes must visit the NC Residency Determination Service (RDS) website for more information and to apply. Once at the NC RDS website, select “Complete Residency Determination”, create an account and complete the RDS process.  Upon completion, you will be supplied with a 10-digit Residency Certification Number (RCN) that is unique to you.  Please enter your RCN in the space provided in the application for admission.

Paying the Application Fee

You are required to submit a $75 non-refundable application fee electronically, using either a debit or credit card only, prior to submission of your application form. Your application will not be processed until the fee is received. Please know that application fees are non-refundable.

The Arthur School pays the application fee for Beta Gamma Sigma inductees, ECU Honors College students, and military-affiliated applicants.  The fee payment is set up to happen automatically.  Current/previous ECU students, please use the email address you used for your initial ECU application to make this process seamless.  If you believe your fee should have been paid, but the Graduate School still requires payment, please reach out to arthur@ecu.edu.

ECU offers some limited application fee waivers for individuals meeting specific criteria (e.g., full-time permanent ECU employees, McNair Scholars, Fulbright Graduate Scholars, etc). To request a fee waiver, you must complete an application form to 99% and answer ‘Yes’ to the qualifying question within the Application Fee & Waiver Scenarios section of the application. The application will then provide more specific directions to request the appropriate fee waiver.

Current Resume

All applications for admission to an Arthur Graduate School of Business degree or certificate program require the submission of a current resume. The resume is used to determine if you meet the experience path for admissions.

Process

Our admissions process is designed to be simple and accessible. Because we do not admit students in fixed cohorts, there is no maximum number of students accepted each semester.

We do not require letters of recommendation, a statement of purpose, or an interview for admission to any Arthur Graduate School of Business degree or certificate program.

We use rolling admissions, meaning applications are reviewed as soon as they are complete rather than held for a specific decision date. As a result, you’ll receive your admission decision quickly, typically within 48 hours, thanks to our streamlined review process.

Previously admitted students should visit our Returning Students page for information on how to reapply.

Additional Information

The ECU Graduate School website and the ECU Graduate Catalog are excellent resources for you and provide information about academic programs, admissions, policies and procedures, and other important details that will assist you before, during, and after the admission process.  Please refer to these sites for program-specific requirements and deadlines.

All graduate admission applications must be submitted to the ECU Graduate School, the University-wide office that coordinates all graduate applications. You are responsible for the submission and receipt of all application materials. The Graduate School must receive everything before the application deadline.

When your application is complete, the application packet is then sent to the Arthur Graduate School of Business office for evaluation. Applicants are admitted to the MBA, MS-STH, MSA, and certificate programs only upon the issuance of a formal letter of admission by the Graduate School.

The application fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Applicants for an Arthur Graduate School of Business degree should speak with an advisor before submitting an application.

Deferring Admission:

Newly admitted graduate students may request up to two deferrals of their admission, not to extend more than one year from the initial admission term.  Please note that if a student defers admission to a future term, the student cannot change their start term back to the initial admission semester. Deferral requests must be submitted by your academic advisor, and there are strict deadlines associated with these requests.
