WNCT interviews Rowe for his role in manufacturing workshop
Dr. Jason Rowe, associate professor of marketing and supply chain management and director of the Bureau of Business Research at East Carolina University’s College of Business, served as a presenter during a pollution prevention workshop hosted by ECU’s Center for Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering and Technology.
The workshop, which took place Feb. 27 in Washington, N.C., offered manufacturers strategies to integrate sustainability into their operations while maintaining profitability. In his presentation, Rowe addressed green supply chain management practices.
The overall goal of the workshop was to introduce pollution prevention techniques to minimize waste at the source, and offer energy-efficient practices to optimize production and reduce costs. Attendees gained practical tools to implement cleaner production methods, reduce resource consumption and align manufacturing processes with both environmental and business objectives — all while networking with industry leaders and sustainability professionals.
Rowe emphasized the importance of partnerships between ECU and industry that help foster economic growth and innovation in eastern North Carolina.
“By collaborating closely with local manufacturers, we can tailor our educational programs to meet industry needs, ensuring our students are well-prepared for the workforce,” he said. “These workshops serve as a platform for knowledge exchange, driving both academic and industrial advancements.”

The Center for Sustainable Energy and Environmental Engineering primarily focuses on collaborative research in areas of sustainable energy and ecological systems.
