ECU has approved a new Professional Sales Concentration within the college. Specifically, the concentration will focus on professional selling, relationship development, sales strategy and customer engagement. In addition, students will study negotiation, sales technology and data-informed decision-making.
Strengthening sales education
The concentration will expand the Twilley Academy of Sales Leadership’s efforts in sales education. It will also connect academic preparation with experiential learning and industry engagement.
As a result, students will develop skills to communicate effectively and understand customer needs. They will also learn to use emerging technologies and create measurable value. Together, these areas will prepare students for the changing expectations of professional sales careers.
“This approval represents a major investment in the future of our students,” said Michael Rodriguez, director of the Twilley Academy of Sales Leadership. “Employers consistently tell us they need graduates who can communicate effectively, understand customers, use emerging technologies and create measurable business value. The Professional Sales Concentration brings those capabilities together in a rigorous academic program supported by experiential learning and meaningful engagement with industry.”
How the ECU Professional Sales Concentration meets employer needs
The Professional Sales Concentration will combine classroom instruction with hands-on learning and industry engagement. For example, students will have opportunities to apply what they learn in practical settings.
Therefore, students can build skills that extend beyond a single job or industry. These abilities can support careers that require communication, negotiation, customer engagement and relationship development.
The Twilley Academy of Sales Leadership advances sales education, research and corporate collaboration within the College of Business. Furthermore, its mission centers on developing the next generation of sales leaders through education, experiential learning and industry engagement.
The concentration also advances the Twilley Academy of Sales Leadership’s work to prepare students for professional sales careers. By connecting academic preparation with practical experience, the program will help students develop their knowledge and confidence.
Ultimately, the ECU Professional Sales Concentration will prepare students to build customer relationships, use technology and contribute measurable business value.
