2017 MBA Business Analytics Case Competition

MBA students are invited to participate in the 2017 Iowa MBA Business Analytics Case Competition. This competition is a chance for some of the brightest graduate analytics students in the country to come together and solve a real-world business problem. Teams will be asked to perform a deep-dive analysis and consider multiple data points before making their recommendations to a panel of industry experts.

Dates and Details

This year’s competition will be held on April 20-21, 2017 in Iowa City, IA.

Prizes:

1st Place: $5,000
2nd Place: $3,500
3rd Place: $1,500

Two nights of lodging (Thursday and Friday) will be covered for team members at the Sheraton Iowa City Hotel, located in downtown Iowa City, steps away from campus.

Teams will be responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the University of Iowa. The nearest airport is the Eastern Iowa Airport (CID) located in Cedar Rapids, IA, a 20 minute drive from campus. Various transportation options are available to get from the Eastern Iowa Airport to campus.

Team Structure

Teams will consist of four (4) graduate students, with at least two (2) members currently enrolled in a full-time MBA program. The competition will consist of a preliminary and a final round and in each round, teams will have time to present their recommendations and receive questions from a panel of judges. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places. The case will be distributed one week prior to the competition.

Registration

Registration for the competition is $150. You will be asked to identify one person as the team contact upon registration (this can be an advisor in the program) and this person will receive all necessary information from our team leading up to the competition. You do not need to have all 4 members identified to register.
