The professorship is named in memory of Edwin B. Jones, a 1958 College of Business graduate, who enjoyed a long-time career with the U.S. Department of Treasury as an investigator.  His impressive career spanned across the country as he rose to hold the third highest investigative position in the IRS. In an earlier ECU publication printed before he passed, Ed Jones said “ECU changed from the little red engine that could to the sleek locomotive that is driving the economy of eastern North Carolina”.
