SHL Senior Represents ECU at Conference

Daniel VanDemoere, a senior in the School of Hospitality Leadership represented ECU at the recent Lodging Conference (http://www.lodgingconference.com/agenda.php). East Carolina University was selected to participate in the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation’s (AH&LEF) Lodging Conference Scholarship Program, held September 26-29, 2016. Each year, only ten schools are invited to nominate one of their AH&LEF scholarship recipients to attend The Lodging Conference at the Arizona Biltmore Resort and Spa in Phoenix.  This was a wonderful opportunity for both AH&LEF and ECU to showcase a scholarship recipient to senior level lodging executives.

Daniel commented, “Being able to represent East Carolina University at the 2016 Lodging Conference in Phoenix AZ was one of the most beneficial moments in the early stages of my career. I gained so much knowledge about today’s marketplace and how the industry has been changing. Aside from the knowledge gained, I got to meet many of the top industry professionals where I was able to network and get to hear firsthand about their careers and how they reached their goals. Overall this experience has given me more than I could ever ask for, from the connections, knowledge, and  careers our industry offers. I would like to thank the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation as well as East Carolina for giving me the opportunity to expand my knowledge about the industry as well as supporting me throughout my education.”
