ECU Grabs Second Place at SHRM Case Competition

Six College of Business graduate students took second place in the case competition at the recent 2017 Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) Student Case Competition and Career Summit.

The competition, which is a realistic job preview, had ECU’s team apply what they’ve learned to a realistic HR situation they’ll most likely encounter in the work world. Using what SHRM requires – HR thinking, ethical decision making, communication and presentation skills – ECU, according to SHRM’s website, had to analyze a business case study, prepare a solution and give a 15-minute oral presentation during the competition.

Based on their performance, ECU’s team came in second in the East Student Case Competition Ranking- Division II category.

The six graduate students included:

  • Jim McAleer
  • Joe Bacon
  • Allison Wu
  • Dominic Moore
  • Gerry Bellows
  • Andy Hearn

Sharon Justice and Craig Williams served as advisors for the team.
