Wells Participates in Forum on Autonomous and Connected Vehicle Policy

Dr. Brenda Wells, the Robert F. Bird Distinguished Professor of Risk and Insurance at the College of Business, addressed members of the Alabama House of Representatives April 26 in Montgomery, Alabama.  Hosted by Speaker Mac McCutcheon, Wells was part of the “Forum on Autonomous & Connected Vehicle Policy” presented by The Council of State Governments.

“The Boeing 747 aircraft came out in 1970, and in 47 years has had fewer than 4,000 deaths attributed to it.  Meanwhile, automobile crashes in the United States kill 35,000 people every year!  That is the equivalent of one 747 crashing every week and killing everyone on board,” Wells told the forum audience.

Wells also has been busy addressing lawmakers on this same issue in Colorado and Connecticut.
