COB Grad and Entrepreneur Featured in Local Media

Here’s great news from a recent College grad, Sam Burney. You might have seen him on WITN and in the Daily Reflector talking about his new business, Cable Paradise Park, which is a cable wakeboarding and outdoor entertainment complex in Greene County.

The College’s Miller School of Entrepreneurship and its Small Business Institute had the pleasure to work with Sam on business and financial planning for his new endeavor.

Sam, a go getter from Concord, also took advantage of local business pitch competitions

such as Discovery Forum and Spazzfest. The concept for Cable Paradise Park wonthe latter and gave him a $1,000 prize in seed money. When asked if this win opened doors for other funding, Sam thinks it did. He was able to get a loan from Carolina Small Business Development Fund.

“I think winning Spazzfest encouraged them (Carolina Small Business Development Fund) because they saw other people trusted my ideas,” said Burney.
