Alumnus Named VP at Marriott

Perry Dunbar, a 1998 ECU alumnus and graduate of the College’s School of Hospitality Leadership (SHL), was recently promoted to vice president of Global Property Management Systems at Marriott International. In this role, Dunbar will have the strategic and operational accountability for Marriott Property Management Systems (FOSSE, FSPMS, Opera and LightSpeed), GPMS and Starwood PMS integration. He will continue to lead his current team of subject matter experts. Dunbar is based at the Marriott International headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. He is also a member of the SHL Advisory Board.

 

Perry Dunbar

Dunbar has been with Marriott since 1999 starting as a front office manager at the Marriott Raleigh Crabtree Valley. Later, he became GM with the TownePlace Suites brand. Perry first came to Marriott Headquarters to join the Owner Franchise Services team supporting Americas openings, and he subsequently served in roles in Training, Operations, Sales and Marketing, and assisting franchisees with the CYRB implementation. Perry joined GO as director of implementation and later moved to sr. director, Global Property Management systems.

Outside of work, Perry stays busy with his wife (Ali) and three children (Matthew-15, Taylor-9 and Sydney-6). He enjoys being involved with the children, travel and music (has played drums since age 4).

On Dunbar’s promotion, Dr. Robert O’Halloran, director of the College’s SHL, said, “We at the School of Hospitality Leadership are incredibly proud of Perry’s accomplishments and his new position as a vice president. He has long been involved with the School and its students through recruitment, sharing his experience as a guest speaker and serving on our advisory board.
