Research Updates from the Miller School


During the 2017-18 academic year, Miller School of Entrepreneurship faculty published research articles in the following scholarly journals: Journal of Applied Management & Entrepreneurship, the Journal of Small Business & Entrepreneurship, and New England Journal of Entrepreneurship. Miller School faculty were also involved in sponsored research through the NSF I-Corps grant and VentureWell teaching grant. In addition, faculty presented papers at the 2018 United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) Conference, 2018 Small Business Institute (SBI) Conference, 2018 Academy of Economics and Finance Annual Meeting, and the 2017 National Decision Science Institute Conference. At the USASBE conference, the Miller School demonstrated that it is working to create a national model for building a School of Entrepreneurship in the rural U.S.

Dr. Mike Harris

Miller School faculty are very interested in professional development and learning best practices from other institutions with robust entrepreneurship education programs. To support this Miller School faculty attended the 2017 Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada, and the 2018 VentureWell Conference in Fort Worth, Texas. The Miller School also had representation at the 1st Annual Entrepreneurship Educators of North Carolina at UNC-W in November 2017.

Dr. Dennis Barber

The Miller School currently co-hosts the Journal of Small Business Strategy and has faculty on the editorial board for the Small Business Institute® Journal. Faculty review for other journals such as the Journal of Management EducationEntrepreneurship Education & Pedagogy and the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour & Research.
