Helping local manufacturers

Thanks to a continuing partnership with the North Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NC MEP), eastern North Carolina manufacturers will soon learn that ECU has the resources needed to help them launch, grow and sustain their businesses.

With its partnership with NC MEP, East Carolina University’s College of Business will develop programs and outreach that connect manufacturers to services in the College of Business and the College of Engineering and Technology and additional areas across ECU’s Campus.

“With this partnership, manufacturers can have access to numerous services and solutions that will help them meet their business needs and goals,” said Sharon Justice, partnership coordinator at the College of Business. “There’s untapped, valuable knowledge to be found here at ECU.”

Resources for manufacturers

According to Justice, the College of Business will provide technology-based resources and expertise to manufacturing companies that want to address workplace safety, process optimization, business growth, innovation, sustainability, energy, quality systems and workforce training and development.

“There are almost 2,500 manufacturers in the 252 area code that have more than 46,000 employees,” said Justice. “The opportunity for impact on the lives and the economy in our region is strong, and with this partnership, we truly can help transform the region.”

The NC MEP partnership is one of many programs available through the College of Business’ Office of Professional Services & Research. Through the office, businesses and municipalities will have access to award-winning knowledge and expertise that can provide the cutting-edge solutions and research needed to be competitive in today’s increasingly complex business environment.
