SHL recruits at 2022 NC ProStart Invitational

 

The School of Hospitality Leadership was represented during the recently completed NC ProStart Invitational, held March 18 at Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte.

The invitational had Five North Carolina high school teams compete for more than $600,000 in scholarships. Competition categories were culinary and management. Three teams were awarded for each category.

Made up of seven students, the South Mecklenburg High School took first place in both culinary and management categories and received $185,500. These students will go on to represent North Carolina against teams from across the country at the National ProStart Invitational in Washington, DC this May.

Michael Fazzini, a teaching Instructor and Kitchen Lab Coordinator for SHL was on hand representing SHL.  SHL offered scholarship support for winning team members if they attended ECU and majored in Hospitality Management.

All winning students were awarded scholarship dollars.

  • Third place: Ashe County High School, West Jefferson
