Second Toolbox Leadership Academy brings leadership skills to high school students

College of Business faculty Dr. Christine Kowalczyk, Dr. Shirley Mai, and Dr. Linda Quick hosted the second Toolbox Leadership Academy for 18 students from the Innovation Early College High School (IECH) during the month of September.

Developed in 2022 through the Engagement and Outreach Scholars Academy, the Toolbox Leadership Academy empowers underrepresented high school students in eastern North Carolina to develop leadership skills and become aware of opportunities in business.

This year the program was further developed to include six engaging sessions over three weeks. Topics covered were leadership, communication, empowerment, team building, and goal setting. Students created vision boards, which were presented to ECU leadership representing the College of Business and the Honors College.  Each student was honored with a certificate of completion after their presentations.

Brinkley-Lane Scholars Annaleise Darrohn, Katie Council Sarah Maisto, Maelee Becton, and Tete Nahr-Mensah supported the program.
