Risk Management Insurance Students Travel to Washington DC

Every year the Risk Management Insurance students go on multiple trips to conferences, conventions, and meetings all over the U.S. On April 21st some of the students will be heading to Washington DC for the Big “I” Legislative Conference.
Dr. Brenda Wells is the Director of the Risk Management Insurance program. I asked Dr. Wells what the students’ gain from this experience and in her words:
“The students are invited by the Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina to attend this conference. This is their national lobbying effort as independent agents to get their message across to elected representatives from all across the United States. Students are invited to legislative briefing sessions then they get to actually go to meetings with North Carolina representatives and congressmen and observe the lobbying process. It’s a wonderful learning experience for them. “
