New Student Technology Center
The College recently received approval and funding for its new Student Technology Center. Construction is planned to begin January 2016. The current student computer lab and the two teaching computer labs in Bate 3001, 3004, and 3005 will be remodeled to provide students with collaborative work space, quick use stations, multi-screen stations, and hang-out space, all in an inviting environment.
The new space is more akin to a business center filled with easily configurable modular furniture, collaborative and individual workspace, lots of power outlets, stations to plugin and project multimedia, a center with printing, binding and shredding machines, a virtual environment to provide access to expensive software, a handful of state-of-art desktops, and space for drinks and snacks all in a pleasing environment that acts as our de facto student center.
In addition, the new space includes our new Small Business Student Consulting Lab. This lab is the College’s first and very visible step in creating a robust School of Entrepreneurship. The lab will allow students to learn first-hand from experts and mentors as they complete real-world small business projects in partnership with the Small Business Technology and Development Center (SBTDC).
