Peer Mentors Are Here to Help You Succeed
Having a hard time adjusting to college? Wanting to learn more about how to get involved? Need help during registration?
All of these questions can be answered by one of your College of Business Peer Mentors. Peer Mentors are comprised of six Junior, Senior, and graduate Business Students that have one purpose: to help students succeed.
The Peer Mentors are here for any first year student that are having difficulties or would like more information. They are actively involved with the students of the College of Business Living Learning Community (LLC). These mentors have been in the shoes of freshmen students and have taken classes that freshmen are enrolled in or are enrolling in for upcoming semesters. They’ve experienced what the College of Business has to offer and are able to take their experiences and help students to the best of their abilities. Their involvement with many of the organizations and programs the College of Business has to offer make them great resources to learn how to become an active member of the COB.
So far this year the Peer Mentors have participated in the LLC move in day in August, along with barbeque later that day to welcome the new students and help with the transition. The Peer Mentors also got to be involved with LLC retreat day at the Adventure Center in the Student Recreation Center. They participated in kayaking up the Tar River, climbing the rock wall in the rec center and biked around town to get students comfortable with Greenville.
Besides Welcome Week activities Peer Mentors also participate in monthly sessions in Gateway to answer frequently asked freshman questions. As well as giving students helpful study tips with goody bags for exam week. The Peer Mentors have taken steps to get more involved with the LLC by enhancing the individual LLC student experience by each LLC student having their own personal peer mentor.
Peer Mentors hold weekly office hours for any students to walk in and seek help with any questions they may have. These include questions about registration, concentrations, switching majors, and many more.
