Marketing Advisory Board Meeting a Success

The Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management held their annual Marketing Advisory Board meeting on Friday, October 2.  Board members that attended were Susan Alt, Vice President, Industry Relations and Public Affairs; Paul Ricciarelli, President, Wall-Lenk Corporation; Sterling Whitley, Vice President Marketing and Sales, Carolina Canners, Inc.; Randy Poindexter, Senior Vice President Marketing, Bojangles’ Restaurants, Inc.; Walter Reid Perkins III, CEO, The Hammock Source; and D. Christopher Douglas, Senior Director of Marketing, iNet Process.

The meeting provided the opportunity to gain industry feedback on issues pertaining to curriculum; student opportunities (such as internships) and interest in the field; and faculty engagement.  Two curriculum issues were discussed: an undergraduate Certificate in Sales, and an undergraduate Digital Marketing program.

Board members shared their experience and insight on topics that ranged from innovation and sports marketing, to career advice.  The panel highlighted the power of networking and that of a handwritten thank you note.
