School of Hospitality Leadership Participates in Visit NC 365
The School of Hospitality Leadership recently participated in North Carolina’s 2017 Visit NC 365 tourism conference, March 19-21, 2017. Greenville was the host city and the event was held at the Greenville Convention Center. Andrew Schmidt, Executive Director of the Convention and Visitor Bureau and his staff hosted the event(http://visitgreenvillenc.com/cvb/about-the-cvb/staff/).
The annual Visit North Carolina 365 Conference is the state’s premier travel industry event. Bringing together more than 500 of the state’s tourism industry leaders, the conference provides opportunities to catch up on the latest trends and issues facing the travel industry, hear insights from industry experts and network with other travel and tourism professionals (https://www.visitnc365.com/).
SHL representatives included faculty members Terrie Hamilton, Cynthia Deale, Craig Marshall, George Fenich and Bob O’Halloran. SHL faculty staffed the School’s booth and met with attendees and distributed information about the BS and MS programs. SHL students also volunteered at the event helping organizers and exhibitors with a variety of tasks. Additionally, COB Graduate Office representatives, Paul Russell, Andrea Fillipovich and Leonard Mansfield supported the booth efforts and helped to market the Master of Science in Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality as well as the MBA and MSA programs.
The event had great local food and illustrated the sustainability of Greenville, Pitt County and Eastern NC. Local Bar-B-Que restaurants, local breweries, a local winery and a local creamery shared and showed off their products. The event featured several key note speakers and a diverse number of break out workshops.
