SHL Alumni Profile: Brad Clinton

Throughout my education as a full time student at East Carolina University, I was also employed full time at the Hilton and Convention Center of Greenville. I started working there my freshman year as a bartender and banquet server making minimum wage. Through sheer determination, sleep deprivation, and way too much caffeine; I managed to not only work my way through my Hospitality Leadership degree with honors, but also move up through the ranks at the hotel as a Food and Beverage manager. I quickly learned that time management and perseverance are critical in many aspects of life and if you really want to achieve something, you must put in the time and effort to be successful. I was fortunate enough to have some tremendous support and guidance along the way from all of the professors within the School of Hospitality Leadership and College of Business at East Carolina University.

Since graduating in 2012, I have moved to Raleigh, NC where I began my new family and my new career opportunity at the Raleigh Convention Center. I continued to use the experiences gained from ECU and put them into action immediately. I have since grown and furthered my industry experience by working in several departments that spread over our several different venues in which we operate. I am currently the Director of Operations of the Raleigh Convention Center Campus for Centerplate which includes all food, beverage, and retail operations within the Duke Performing Arts Center, Red Hat Amphitheater, and Raleigh Convention Center. I truly enjoy coming to work every day because there is always something new and challenging to take on. I am always confident in stressful situations because I know that I can always rely on the knowledge and work experience that I gained at ECU.
