Three Tips to Having Your Best Semester Yet!

Across the country, college students like you, are moving in to their homes away from home.  It is time to think about how to have your best semester yet. To help you start off on the right foot, we’ve chosen three tips:

Develop SMART goals, make connections with professors, and use the College of Business resources.

  1. Develop SMART goals. What is SMART, you ask?
    • Specific
    • Measurable
    • Attainable
    • Relevant
    • Time-bound
Your goals need to fit these five criteria in order to be SMART. Choose a goal pertinent to your long-term academic and/or career plans and develop a technique to measure your progress. Write down your SMART goals and read them every day.
  2. Make connections with professors. Your professors know people. They are published individuals with a large network of influential people. Make it a point to form a relationship with multiple professors this fall.
  3. Use the College of Business resources. The College of Business offers some really great resources. Use them! For example, utilizing the Student Technology Center, staying in close contact with your Academic Advisor, and visiting the COB Career Center will all move you ahead to a fulfilling, successful semester.
