One Backpack at a Time

For its annual community project and engagement, the College of Business Living-Learning Community (LLC) recently put together 50 backpacks full of school supplies, toiletries and clothing for Pitt County school children whose families are experiencing a financial hardship. This is the fifth year the LLC, which connects classroom learning with residence life, has collected much-needed items for Pitt County school children.

Cassandra Campbell is the lead school social worker for Pitt County Schools. She’s been involved with this backpack program since its inception. With hopes of the economy improving, one would think that projects such as this would be less important.

“That’s not the case,” says Campbell. “Life just happens, and children continue to need our help.”

To date, the College has filled almost 300 backpacks.  And, with the enthusiastic efforts of the LLC, that number will most assuredly rise next year.
