Raleigh Chaine des Rotisseurs Provides SHL Scholarship

The Raleigh chapter of the Chaine des Rotisseurs will be providing a $2,000 annual scholarship to a School of Hospitality Leadership student concentrating in Food and Beverage Management.

The Triangle Bailliage de North Carolina is a local chapter of the Confrérie de la Chaîne des Rôtisseurs.  La Chaîne is a unique gastronomic society, headquartered in Paris, with more than 20,000 members in over 100 countries. Currently, there are about 150 bailliages in the US with over 7,000 members, each headed by a Bailli (chapter president).  The Triangle Bailliage has about 40 members, including Professional Members and celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2012. Drs. Cynthia Deale and Robert O’Halloran, from the School of Hospitality Leadership, met with representatives of La Chaine to discuss possibilities of a scholarship partnership. The meeting was arranged by Gustavo Muzzulon, Assistant General Manager, and Mark Sipple, (ECU alum) Club House Manager of the Carolina Country Club; both serve as members of the School of Hospitality Leadership Advisory Board. La Chaine was represented by Dr. Michael Procino, Cameron Bridger, Gustavo Muzzulon, and Mark Simple.

The Carolina Country Club is a long-time supporter of the SHL through recruiting, guest speaking, and providing guidance student chapter to the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA). Mr. Muzzolon and Mr. Sipple are regular guest speakers in Dr. Deale’s HMGT 3800 Club Management course and frequently host the student chapter for tours of their club. Dr. Deale is the advisor for the student chapter of CMAA.

The SHL is excited to announce this scholarship and looks forward to working with La Chaine. The first scholarship recipient will be selected in the spring of 2018.
