Aramark Gift to Fund SHL Scholarships
The College of Business’ School of Hospitality Leadership had a pleasant surprise during its most recent Career Fair. Aramark, a fortune 500 company that provides innovative services in food, facilities management and uniforms, gave the School a $15,000 gift to help fund scholarships.
The annual gift from Aramark Higher Education gives selected students scholarships that range from $2,500 – $5,000. These same students are provided employment opportunities with Aramark in its Student Manager Program.
The Aramark-School of Hospitality Leadership partnership is one of the largest student-manager programs in the United States, says School Director Dr. Bob O’Halloran.
“Aramark is an important partner for the School of Hospitality Leadership and its students,” said O’Halloran. “This funding provides students an opportunity to complete their degree while engaging in their internship experience. Aramark’s diverse venues on campus provide our students unique opportunities for growth in the hospitality field.”
The scholarship support has been in place for more than 10 years, and over time, gifts have grown from $10,000 a year to $15,000.
