How did the College of Business prepare you for this successful internship?
By taking multiple finance classes, I learned the basics to begin working as a local financial advisor.
Describe your experiences at this company.
I assisted in recommending financial plans to clients based on their retirement needs. Additionally, I learned a lot about the industry and what to expect if I decide to become an advisor in the future.
Describe your experience at the College of Business.
My experience in the College of Business has been great. I have learned from all of my classes and made great connections with my professors. I was determined to gain leadership roles while here and went out of my way to become involved with FMA and the Investment Club. Being involved in clubs helps you connect with like-minded individuals in the same majors, and is a boost to your resume as well.
What was the moment during your internship where you knew that your ECU COB education had paid off?
When I was offered a fulltime position with Vanguard in Charlotte, NC. I used my internship experiences to answer questions during the interview. The internship helped me stand out because I had actual finance experience.
Why would you recommend a business student take advantage of an internship opportunity?
An internship provides invaluable experience within your field of study. You gain a true sense of what to expect in a fulltime position after college. Internships also strengthen one’s resume and give students a leg up on getting the job after college.
What would people would be surprised to learn about you?
An interesting fact about me is that I am working on getting my private pilot’s license.
