Women Entrepreneurs to Speak on Campus
Women Mean Business, an event that will introduce ECU students to local female entrepreneurs who will share their startup experiences, is Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in SciTech C207. Hosted by the Miller School of Entrepreneurship and the Collegiate Entrepreneur Organization, Women Mean Business also will celebrate National Women Entrepreneurship Week.
Keynote Speaker is Ashley-Nicole Russell from the Law Offices of Ashley-Nicole Russell. She was recently named Greenville’s Small Business Leader for 2018. A panel of five local entrepreneurs will discuss the challenges faced by female entrepreneurs and share advice for students who want to start their own company. Panelists include Kaysi Kallweit and Lauren Robinson from Baby Bump, Ariana Billingsley from the SBTDC, Erin Davis from Shop Truly Yours, and Beth May with Mary Kay.
Taylor Hicks, who won the inaugural Pirate Entrepreneurship Challenge, coordinated the event and will serve as panel moderator. Her goal for organizing the event is to inspire other female students to pursue their entrepreneurial goals.
Hicks said, “Often women feel scared or intimidated to enter the business world, but I think hearing the real stories of other local women who did it will help change that.”
Women Mean Business is an ECU passport event.
