SHL Supports Recent Greenville Gives Event

The School of Hospitality Leadership (SHL), in support of Pitt Independent Eateries (PIE), played a role in helping Greenville Gives on Dec. 7, 2019. The annual holiday event’s purpose is to help drive donations to organizations that support that less fortunate in Greenville.

Twenty-five students from SHL Professor Dr. Alleah Crawford’s event planning class designed and coordinated the creation of PIE’s booth for the event. The students created a snowman selfie board and developed the idea for the S’mores’ station that was offered to visitors at the event.

“Based on visitor feedback, the S’mores’ station was a hit with the kids and adults,” said SHL instructor and co-founder of PIE, Craig Marshall.

Pitt Independent Eateries is a new, local nonprofit association that was established to bring awareness to support local independent operators in Pitt County. It has partnered with Hope of Glory and JOY Soup Kitchen to help raise money to feed the families of Pitt County.

The School of Hospitality Leadership in the College of Business has the largest student enrollment in the North Carolina university system.
