Mursion comes to COB

BUSI 2200 is an experiential course where the COB works to develop innovative, hands-on activities that promote effective leadership and team skills. Students learn to model effective leadership and team skills during in-class lab activities, and outside of the class, they work on a service-learning project with a nonprofit community partner. One resource we are piloting to determine its impact on student learning is Mursion. The Mursion platform fits nicely in the class structure as it is a live application exercise where students must apply team development skills to actively problem solve common team dysfunctions. This past spring, 25 students took part in a Mursion activity based off Harvard Business Review article “How to Work with Someone Who isn’t a Team Player.” Some students provided their perspective on the use of Mursion.

“When we actually saw it working and began talking to it, I immediately saw where Mursion could be a great benefit,” said Lincoln Farmer. “It made for a good way to practice talking to people with different personality types without having to worry about saying the wrong thing.”

“I would like to see this implemented more throughout my college career, and I really liked the idea of being able to schedule appointments to practice with said avatars for these types of scenarios,” said Haley Young.
