In case you missed it, COB’s Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management made some news in early 2019.

COB Graduate Team Takes Home Silver in Nationwide Marketing Challenge

Earlier this year, College of Business (COB) advertising and strategy graduate students participated in the nationwide Collegiate ECHO Marketing Challenge that was sponsored by BOXED, an online and mobile wholesale retailer.

According to a news release from Marketing EDGE, six student teams – three from undergraduate programs and three from graduate programs – were honored for proposing to BOXED a marketing campaign that targeted affluent families (primarily focusing on moms) in one of four markets: San Diego, California, the Washington D.C./Virginia/Maryland suburbs, and Charlotte or Raleigh, North Carolina.

COB’s graduate team took home silver this year. The team included, pictured below from left to right, Lucas Biggers, Erin Brown, Austin Faulkner, Keith Moore and Vanessa Pippen.

This year’s recognition marks the third year in a row that a COB Team was recognized at the ECHO Marketing Challenge. Dr. Christine Kowalczyk, COB associate professor, served as faculty advisor for this year’s team and last year’s team.

Teaching Awards

Two COB professors also were honored during an April ceremony that recognized ECU’s excellent teachers.

Dr. Mauro Falasca, associate professor, was presented the Board of Governors Distinguished Professor for Teaching Award. Kowalczyk was recognized with a Scholar-Teacher award for engaging students in research, incorporating research in their teaching and demonstrating the synergy between scholarship and teaching.
