2019 Italy #COBGlobal: the Trevi Fountain

An ECUCOB, Study Abroad Travel Log By Ashley Hopkins

Today we went on an amazing tour of Rome and were able to see many large historical monuments such as the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps and the Pantheon. I was very excited to see each of these historical places, but I was most interested in the Trevi Fountain. As we were approaching the fountain and I turned the corner, I got my first personal glance of it, and I started to tear up a bit. The Trevi Fountain was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. The crystal-clear water and the pure white marble took my breath away. The detailing of the sculptures was simply exquisite.

There were thousands of people all around the fountain, speaking hundreds of foreign languages, but focusing on the splashing water falling from the fountain brought me such peace and calmness in such a large bustling place.

Taking in such a beautiful historical monument has absolutely been the highlight of my study abroad trip to Italy. I am so thankful for this amazing opportunity to visit another country, and one such as beautiful as Italy. The people and culture have been amazing to experience. I believe that everyone needs to experience another culture to see that there is so much out there that we have yet to experience
